The unveiling of the new van, the 2023 Ford Transit Custom Van took place in late September 2022, and it looks almost identical to the Ford Custom E-Transit, the long-awaited electric van.
What do their characteristics tell us?
In terms of specs, we’re shown a new front grille. It has resized (enlarged) vents for better engine cooling and two side vents. The platform on which the new Custom is built, however, is similar to that on which the Volkswagen T7.1 is built.
The new Custom is available in two length versions and two height versions: L1H1, L2H1, L1H2 and L2H2 respectively.
Inside, there’s a 13-inch display with touchscreen, as well as several sensitive-touch buttons for camera, parking sensors and self-parking.
Innovation: the car’s office interior
Many car owners spend a lot of time in their car, even when they’re not driving, and it often becomes a mobile office. So Ford have slightly restructured the interior of the car to make it more functional for drivers’ activities.
The big change is the steering wheel, which allows the car to be used as a ‘mobile office’ (the steering wheel can be put in a flat position, where you can place your laptop or fill in documents). This is innovative and welcome in many areas where various aspects of business take place on the road, at destinations quite different from the business office.

All in all, the new Ford Custom Van covers the current market needs
The new 2.0 EcoBlue 2.0 EcoBlue diesel engine comes in power outputs ranging from 109 hp to 168 hp. You can opt for the 6-speed manual or the new 8-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available as an option.
In addition, there’s also the option of a plug-in hybrid version with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and an 11.8 kWh electric motor, for a total output of 225 hp. Range in electric mode is up to 57 km.

Noua motorizare 2.0 EcoBlue diesel vine în variante de putere cuprinse între 109 CP și 168 CP. Se poate opta pentru cutia manuală în 6 viteze sau noua cutie automată cu 8 trepte de viteză. Opțional, mașina poate fi echipată cu sistem de tracțiune integral.
În plus, se poate alege și echiparea cu versiunea plug-in hybrid, versiune dotată cu motor de 2.5 litri benzină și un motor electric de 11,8 kWh, totalizând o putere de 225 CP. Autonomia mașinii în modul electric poate ajunge până la 57 km.
